Everyone deserves purpose in their life, and to know and understand their purpose. Without purpose there is no path; without a path, we are lost. The purpose of this site, of this portfolio is thus…
As the online portfolio of Shane Dupuis; DesignNouveau serves as a record of my achievements, failures, and lessons learned in the digital age.
The works presented here are the culmination of years of study and experience in design, development, and fine art. Indeed, even this very website is a body of work sculpted from the clay of technologies finest attributes.
Welcome to my portfolio; poke around, check out my work, and enjoy.
Presented here are my results from the current year; results, either positive or negative provide lessons for future development. For past years work please refer to the Archive, and any experimental or draft work can be found in the Labs section.
I decided to diverge from normality for this showcase and allow a peak into the planning phase of this body of work. Here you will see the layout grid used to map out the layout of this very web site. The rest of the showcase is the site you are view right now.
Looking back at the drafts of this version (featured in the Labs section) i was persistent in my pursuit of an objective. This being; create a single page mobile friendly standards compliant website. I achieved these goals with the assistance of those mentioned on the main page; and without their assistance and dedication this project may have failed. To quote Newton, "If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants".
As an aside; one may say, "but their are multiple pages here". This is the beauty of technology; the platform this site is built on (JQuery Mobile) takes a single HTML document and breaks it up into several pages with just a few lines of code-thus making it easier to develop and maintain.
The main inspiration for this grid template is the Golden Grid System site which features a method for websites to conform to the size of the display it is viewed on. With the basic premise being that as the screen size gets smaller, the font size decreases and the images and layout collapse into a single column.
Thus you have a column grid used for layout and design of page elements. I offer this as a free download under the Creative Commons license. This file is in Illustrator CS5.1 format. Enjoy

This project came about as a need to accommodate my own needs coupled with the desire to create something unique and of high quality. I simply was not satisfied with the level of quality of even high priced products available; so what does any artist do in this situation, but to build it yourself.
The images here showcase the planning documents used prior to purchasing materials and building the product as well as images of the product build and current state. I unfortunately have not been able to complete the project; but the product remains functional.
My vision is for everyone to be free to share their purpose, hopes, and dreams-just as I am. My vision includes active participation in positive growth-by creating, giving, and returning we all can have a prosperous society.
This section showcases projects and works that either did not make it into the final product, or are a result of a training exercise.
The images and links in this showcase depict some of the preplanning and draft webpages that were created prior to the design that is used presently.
Feedback is always appreciated; by providing creative professionals feedback we engage and return acknowledgment of their skills, and help them grow.
As an archive this section showcases previous years work; it also provide a visual progression, or regression (depending on context) in knowledge and experience.
Below you will find slideshows of this collection; these pieces chronicle milestones in my life, and serve as reflective moments of a distant past.
Below are selected bits of photography i have snapped over the years; photography for me has always served as a utilitarian purpose, taking photos to serve as sources for other projects.
Selected here are random digital art compositions; no specific deliberate series or set, just a few works created over the years.
Here you find the previous version of my online portfolio; DesignNouveau, including the media that went into making these two web sites.
This client runs a massage business; she came to me with a simple problem, build a website that is pleasing to the eye and user friendly. As i look back upon this project i see opportunity for improvement, based upon my current knowledge and experience.
A client needed a business card, thus i create the below imagery. Though the client never accepted the work i thought i would display it for viewing pleasure.
Hello; I am a native to Florida (US), currently centered in central Florida. As an artist and Information Technology (IT) developer i have the pleasure of using my artistic talents to create innovative and ascetically pleasing user experiences.
My early education centered on fine art and design; whereas, my bachelors degree focused on IT with a minor focus on design, liberal arts, and the humanities. I have always been deeply passionate about working with art, writing, and technology, and so i feel that IT development and design are a good merger of those things i am most passionate about.
In the interest of building upon strengths and opportunities i have identified three points of focus to build upon as detailed below.
User experience development, together with user interface design is my primary point of focus.
Secondary to UX and UI development i intend to also focus on the background aspects of internet server development.
In my spare time between the rest of my learning i intend to churn out physical works of art and literature.
